The Person of the Holy Ghost by Andrew Hemstrought
Chapter Two - His Name is Holy
The Holy Spirit is alive and well. He's going to speak to you today! Everybody say "the Holy Spirit's going to speak to me today." Let's pray before we get into the word.
Father, in Jesus name, thank You for Your Holy written Word! Father I ask you for the ability to speak Your words this morning. I ask You for anointing that I may say and declare the message that You've given me. That I may speak in power, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Father I ask You that the people's ears would be opened and so words can minister directly to their spirit. Let Your Glory, Holy Spirit, fall here this morning and let us learn of You, in Jesus Name, Amen.
There is nothing greater than knowing the Holy Ghost, His work and His person. He is the one with whom we have to do. Jesus was raised from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Right now. That's where he is, seated at the right hand of the Father. This means He's not in the chair next to you. But, He said that he's going to send the Holy Ghost. When I go I will send Him (the Holy Ghost) and He will come and live with you and abide with you forever! Get used to Him! Forever is a long time.
Jesus was the disciples best friend. They looked up to Him. I guarantee they
started to dress like Him and talk like Him. Have you ever done that? Hung around
someone so much you start to look like them. Talk like them. Kids do that in
school all the time. There like ... Like
Well we're in this group now...
And Like
you can tell cause they all have the same haircut, they all say
"like" a lot. Don't hang out with those kids. Hang out with the ones
that are starting to talk like the Holy Ghost! If you hang out with God enough
you'll start to talk like Him, look like Him, act like Him. That's what you
want! Start to look? Yes, people should know when you walk in the room that
something's different about you. "...I don't know what it is but, something's
different..." And it's because you're not hanging out with, the "like
like
club", you're hanging out with the Holy Ghost. He'll change
your thinking, He'll change the way you talk, He'll change the way you smell,
thank God. Some of us need that more than others.
1Cor2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Our faith is supposed to be in the power of God. Remember Jesus said, "the kingdom isn't in just words but in power." And believe me I'm a word person, I believe the word, live the word, talk the word, preach the word. But there's got to be something behind those words. If they are just words, we could base this all on some great novel written by some wonderful writer. People do that stuff. But the bible is more than just words. There's a living power behind the pages.
If a police officer who pulls you over to the side of the road and tells you
to step out of your car, you better do it. There's power behind his words. He
has the ability to enforce those words. They mean something. So you listen to
him and you obey him! The same thing holds true with God's Word because there's
a power behind the words. This is why Paul said my speech and my preaching was
not with enticing words of man's wisdom. Paul didn't come to them and start
giving them, "Well this is the reason I believe this and a nice lecture
about why the messiah needed to come and blah, blah." That would have been
good and fine, but it would hit people right in the forehead, thunk! And they
would have said, "Oh well that's lovely, what else ya got, what do you
know about geometry." Geometry was big back then. No! It wasn't just words.
The words weren't spoken in mans wisdom so what were they? Paul's words were
in demonstration of the Spirit and Power! His WORDS, were still talking about
His words, the things He said. The things He said were a demonstration of the
Holy Spirit and His Power. Why? So their faith wouldn't be in a bunch of man's
words but they'd be in what, the Power of God. We've got to get beyond seeing
the bible as just words, to seeing the power of God behind the words. It's of
first importance.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed,
You do well if you take heed to this. What if you don't take heed to what he's saying. Are you gonna do well? We can look at our lives and say, ...am I doing well? How are you doing? I'm not doing very well. ... Have you ever heard that? We are going to do well if we take heed to this more sure word of prophecy!
I'm bothered, by people who are against - they consider to be - the "health
and wealth" gospel. They would rather believe some other gospel. In fact,
they say that about us. ... Well the health and wealth gospel, that's some other
gospel... No, what bible are they reading? Peter by the Holy Ghost is saying
you are going to do well if you take heed to this. He didn't say you're going
to do worse, and be under trials and tribulations. My will is for you to be
prosperous and in health even as your soul prospers. 3 John 2 Same bible! They
want to criticize the health and wealth people. Don't because, if they take
heed they will do well!
How many of you have ever heard this
Well they're doing well, they have
a nice house, he has a great job, they're doing well. They have a life coach.
They're doing really well...(laughs) They can afford to pay somebody to tell
them what to do in the morning. You need to brush your teeth this morning. ...Oh
thank you, here's 40 dollars. Oh, they're doing well. He's an accountant of
a very large firm and makes a lot of money. He's doing well... That's all fine
and good in secular society, oh but bring it in the bible and boop we must get
all religious. ...Doing well must mean something completely different in the
bible. Doing well must mean having a look on your face that's just pious and
holy. And doing well according to the scripture means that you need too dole
all your money to the poor and live in a box on the bad side of town... No!
Only morons would think that and religious people. Sorry.
Who would think somebody in that situation is doing well? They are not doing
well. Doing well! Are you doing well? Yes! I'm doing well. How are you? Well!
I'm doing well! Glory to God.
Here the bible says, which is God speaking to me, you do well that you take
heed as unto a light that shines in a dark place until the day dawn and the
daystar rise in your hearts, verse 20, knowing this first. When the bible says
to know something first, what should you know first? That something. Know this
first! That no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. I'm
sorry this doesn't pertain to you. This is my own private verse. This scripture
here personally belongs to me. You can't believe this scripture and have it
effect your life because this is my own private interpretation. It is mine.
In fact, everybody tare that page out of their bible right now and hand it in.
No it is for you. It is written to you. There's no private interpretation to
it. Know that first.
When the word says, by His stripes you're healed, guess what, by His stripes
You Are Healed! Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Is that
just for me? Or is it yours? It's of no private interpretation. These verses
belong to you.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man but Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Why is the word of no private interpretation? -because, it didn't come by the
will of man. It came as men, Holy men, were moved by the Holy Ghost. These words
came by the Holy Ghost. Do you understand? Who's speaking then, when you open
your bible and you read it, Who is speaking to you? The Holy Ghost!
Isaiah is an Old Testament prophet. He was a holy man of God moved by the Holy
Ghost. What's the one word that might stick out of that sentence? Holy. Holy
men of God were moved by the Holy Ghost? This is very important because we're
trying to learn about the Holy Ghost. What is the first part of the Holy Ghost's
name? Remember, He's a person and I've been praying about this - how to introduce
the person of the Holy Spirit to you. You introduce people by their name.
You must know Him. If you don't come into a personal knowledge of Him you won't
get anything else. He's the one. We just read where He's the one that inspired
the word - the whole bible. If you don't get your revelation from Him, you can't
know what the word is saying. So it's very important that come into a personal
relationship with the Holy Spirit. I realize most of you may be thinking, "What
are you talking about, I've always heard about the personal relationship with
Jesus. Yes, that is how you get saved, that's how you come into the kingdom
of God. But, Jesus said I'm going to send the Holy Spirit to you. He's the counselor,
the comforter, He's the life coach. Why do we have so many messed up Christians?
- No life coach. The Holy Ghost is the life coach. Jesus sent Him to be just
that - your life coach.
There are a lot of books written about the person of the Holy Spirit. Look them
up and read them. People out there are teaching on the person of the Holy Spirit.
This is fine and wonderful but, in most of these books and teachings the whole
emphasis is just trying to prove from the bible that He is a person, and not
just some spiritual element or force that is everywhere. Truth. If, He was everywhere
like some would like to maintain, why did He come out of heaven and land on
Jesus? If He was everywhere wouldn't He have come out of everywhere like a giant
swooshing sound. There would have been an enormous sucking coming from the walls,
the chairs, the floor, the light stand, every object and then directly into
Jesus? But that's not the way it happened. He, the Holy Ghost, came out of heaven!
Where must He have been then at that time? Heaven. He, at that time was in heaven.
When Jesus was baptized, He, the Holy Ghost, came out of heaven and settled
down on Him like a dove. Landed on Him and stayed on Him, which shocked John
the Baptist.
John the Baptist had been moved upon by the Holy Ghost many times. The Holy
Ghost came on Him and left. Came on him and left. But here, Jesus, when He was
baptized in water the Holy Ghost came on Him and stayed! John the Baptist recognized
this as an extraordinary thing. That's what God told him "when you see
the one who the Holy Ghost comes on and stays, He is the Messiah." He is
the Messiah. Not somebody else. ...the guy next to him is the messiah... No!
He's the Messiah! Came on, stayed, right? Holy Ghost. He. Glory be to God forever.
Many, many books have been written about the person of the Holy Ghost. And they
all go into this detailed description of proving from the bible that He is a
person. He can be grieved. He can be blasphemed. He can be communicated with.
He teaches people. All of these things indicate that He is a person. We could
do that in this book but we aren't going too. I'm going to launch from that
baseline, believing that you understand this already. OK? I don't want to go
through all this stuff over and over. If you need to find that out for yourself
there are plenty of resources for you to research. "...well I don't know
if the Holy Spirit is a person or not, how am I gonna find out..?" Well
go read it in the bible. I'm happy to talk with you, but I don't have the time
right now. Plus God told me not to do that. That's the main reason. Cause that's
the first thing I wanted to do.
Preachers if you have to go and speak somewhere, what do you do? You think up
some message. You go look up what everybody else has to say about it. You try
to form a
"of coarse I don't do any of this
" (Laughs)
but it if you were normal this is what you would do, alright? But, God told
me 'I don't want you doing that'. He says I don't want you looking this up from
other people, I want you finding it out from me.
So what we're going to do is to delve into the person of the Holy Ghost. The
person, ok? Get ready to meet Him because by the time were done with this series
you are going to know Him so close and He's going to be sitting right next to
you in a chair. He is so real to you, I'm not kidding. He becomes more real
to you than anybody else. I get thick when I talk about Him.
When you start talking about the Holy Ghost you feel thick, I don't know how
to describe it. But you can feel His presence. He is real! I'm not talking about
some spooky metaphysical yoga thing here. I'm talking about the reality of the
person of the Holy Ghost who will be your closest friend. Glory to God. Now
let's read this scripture.
Isaiah 57:15
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name
is Holy;
Anybody ever see that before? His Name is Holy! "...well that's just giving a characteristic of His Name..." No! It says His Name is Holy. I don't know if anybody took English classes before. I took one, I think it was in the 3rd grade. Anyway, that's all you need for this one. Remember, baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. If I said baptize them in the color of red and green and blue, you wouldn't say baptize them in the color of red and green and loud. Loud is not a color, right? This is like going back to - see Jane run. Baptize them in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Name of the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. Are you getting any of this? He's got a Name! It's Holy Ghost.
I'm showing you this in the Old Testament. Let me read this one more time. For
thus saith the High and Lofty One. The High and Lofty One, who inhabits eternity,
whose name is Holy. It's His name. Yes, it's a characteristic of Him, you know
what they used to do in the old testament? They would name you after the characteristic
of who you were. We don't do that so much today but in that culture and day
they did. That's why God changed Abraham's name from Abram to Abraham, which
means father of many nations. He wasn't father of many nations until God changed
his name.
If you had some kid who was sloppy for the first years of his life you'd call
him the sloppy one. We might do that with nicknames, we don't make it official.
"There's the sloppy one. He comes in, trips over himself and spills his
coffee, immediately. I named these two kids here flex and reflex (2 brothers
Chris and Eli) the other day. They were playing Ping-Pong. The ball comes next
to them 'wack!' 'wack wack wack'. It was like they had cat like reflexes. So
I said flex and reflex.
His Name is Holy! Do we understand? Now let's talk about what Holy is. And this
is where I get goose bumps. Because I've had some experience with this. Glory
be to God.
I dwell in the high and Holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit.
That's good news my friends, we're talking about the Holy Ghost. He dwells with somebody. Who? With him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit. Right there He's telling you, He doesn't want to be all by Himself. Does He? He yearns and longs for you.
And this is another message, you know I get up in the morning and God starts
talking to me about next weeks message and I'm thinking God, I need help this
week. What are you talking about? And so He continues to be silent on this weeks
message and expecting me to walk by faith " just go up there and open up
your bible". OK fine. That's what I'll do.
Anyway, does anyone know what holiness is
? We're talking about the Holy Ghost. It's His Name! Think about all the other names of God, Jehovah Jirah - it means the one who sees and provides. Why would He call Himself that? That's what He does! Right? If you were a mechanic, we'd say Rich the mechanic. Right? It's what He does, Jehovah Jirah, He sees and provides. Jehovah Rapha - He Heals! He does it. It's just what He does. It's part of who He is and back then they give names to it, He Heals! If you never go to a church where they talk about healing, you're never gonna hear about Him as Healer. God does it all today. His name doesn't change.
What about holiness, what does holiness mean. "...Well, that means you
gotta keep the ten commandments, and you gotta walk the straight and narrow
path. You have to brush your teeth 3 times a day..." This is what the Pharisees
thought. They were so letter of the law conscience that they'd just Ooh and
wack people with a stick. That's what a lot of other religions tend to think
holiness is. I think of the Taliban in Afghanistan. They walk the streets with
a stick in hand. Hair's too long, whack! Fingernails not clipped, whack! That's
not holiness. Thank God! I don't want to get whacked with a stick. Holiness
is not a list of do's and don'ts. Holiness is a person.
Holiness is a person.
So, now, if our intent of this series is to get to know the Holy Ghost, and
His work, don't we need to know what Holy is? I mean if we want to know somebody.
SOMEBODY. If we want to know Him, then we've got to know who He is. And His
first name is Holy. If we want to know Him then we are gonna need to know what
Holy means. Glory be to God Forever!
I'm going to hit this from a side you've never even thought of. Believe me,
I didn't think this up on my own. I'm really not that smart.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Here the Word speaks of no variation or shadow caused by turning. This is Holiness. When we speak of the Holiness of God, it is because of His purity of being. He is so pure. So good. So refined in only the good things that the angels in heaven just say, Holy, Holy, Holy. There's none good but one. God! Why because He's Holy!
Now, this isn't easy to get across to people, but if you meditate on this you
will begin to understand that this is who He is. And this is why it is so offensive
to Him when people - the Pharisees and others - say that what the Holy Ghost
was doing, His work in the Earth, was of the devil. Jesus would heal somebody
and they'd say, "... Oh you healed by the power of the devil..." Jesus
even cast out a demons by the finger of God or by the Holy Ghost, and they said
He was casting it out by a stronger devil. This is true blasphemy. Why? Because
the Holy Ghost is purely good, purely great, purely, the high and lofty one.
There is nobody higher. This makes Him Holy.
I think of absolute zero. You know what absolute zero is? We're getting scientific
here in church this morning. Absolute zero is the absence of all heat. Now if
you had a glass of cold water. Could it get colder? What if it got colder? What
if you started extracting all the heat out of it. Taking the heat out of it,
taking the heat out of it. What would happen, it would get colder and colder
until it would freeze in your hand. Pretty soon your hand would freeze and snap
off. Bad image. But as you take out all the heat so that no more heat could
possibly be taken out
Absolute Zero.
Absolute Holiness, like absolute zero, is when there is no sin. All sin has
been extracted and removed. Absolute goodness is when all badness has been removed.
That is holiness of goodness. God is good. If I talk about the wealth of God,
there is no poverty at all. And the Holy Spirit, He is wealth! He is Health!
He Is Life!!! How many of you know that the bible says He Is Love! Is! Nothing
else in there, no corruption, no contamination, this is Holiness! You getting'
it? God is Light! In Him there is no darkness at all! Holiness! The angels,
they see Him and they go Holy! Holy! Holy! That's all they can say! Why, because
they see the overriding attribute of God as holiness, it is His Name! It's His
first name! It is the first thing that He is and does.
Why is it good to know Him? Do you want a little bit of that to rub off on you?
We'll get to talking about the gifts of the Spirit eventually, but when His
wisdom, the gift of the word of wisdom comes, you get a little bit. A gift or
a word, one word of wisdom, not a sentence all the time. One word of wisdom,
you just bumped into Holy, Holy wisdom. It's His gift, the gift of the Holy
Spirit. He gives you a little bit of wisdom. That's the way it is! Do you understand?
That's truth! No deception in Him. Holiness. You getting this at all? This is
Holiness.
Holiness is who He is. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above
and comes down from the Father of lights. Now, if you got something in your
life that isn't good or perfect. It's not from God! So don't attribute it to
God! "...Well God sometimes says yes and God sometimes says no, sometimes
He's says maybe..." You know I've heard that. "...You ask God a question
sometimes He says yes, sometimes He says no, sometimes He says maybe
"
"
Sometimes He's psychotic! He doesn't even know what He's talking
about..." No, He's God! He knows what He's talking about and He goes along
with His word, which was written by the Holy Ghost! It is truth, no lie in it!
You understand? Holiness. This is how we can stand on His word because it's
written by the Holy Ghost. There's no lie in it.
I might lie to you. I'm a man. I might tell you I could bench press 500lbs with
one hand. (Laughs) What are you laughing for. (more laughs) Cause you know I'm
lying. But the Holy Ghost doesn't lie! He can't! He's Holy! If He ever were
to, He would no longer be the High and Lofty one, would He? He would become
pretty high and mostly lofty. There can only be one Holy Ghost. You get that?
There are not two Holy Ghosts. There are not two Gods. There's only one who
is High and Lofty and His name is Holy!
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, why? You know we can go
farther into this, because it's Holy. God doesn't have second rate blessings
for people. He doesn't have them to give. And if I were to teach on prosperity,
this is why you don't just ask God help me just get by. He doesn't have any
"help me get by". He goes into His cupboard looking for some "help
me get by" and there's none! All I've got is a big can of "super blessing!"
and another can of "the best job you ever had in the world!" You want
some of that? "
no, I just want to get by..." You can do that
on your own. So God says, "You're on your own, I don't have any of that."
People are asking God for something He doesn't have. Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights with whom
no variableness neither shadow of turning.
I joke with my daughter about this, when God's light shows up, it doesn't cast
a shadow. Isn't that bazaar? That means it shines right through you, brother.
If it shines just on one side, that's how shadows are formed. But the light
of God does not cast a shadow.
The reality of this verse is that God doesn't vary, He doesn't turn from good
to bad to evil to good to bad, just all the time varying. No, He's one thing
all the time! Always good! Always holy! Always perfect! Always has your best
will in mind! That's why we should say "God, show me your holy plan for
my life". Remember, Holy men of God were moved by the Holy Ghost. He dwells
with them of a thoroughly penitent and contrite spirit. That's holiness. Because
He's the Holy Ghost! How are we going to recognize Him when He heals somebody?
Because, He healed them in a perfect way, in holiness. How do we recognize Him
in our finances, cause there was a perfect blessing and He added no sorrow with
it. There was no shadow cast by it's turning. He's holy! He does holy things.
This isn't even close to a list of do's and don'ts. I hope I'm getting this
through to you.
Before I went to Rhema, this was a while ago, about 20 years at this writing,
I thought I would pray the word. Have you ever heard that, "praying the
word?" People would say back then, "You should pray the word."
And you should, pray the word! Glory to God. Take verses of scripture and put
them in the first person. Put your name in there and say "Father, I'm praying
this for me." I'd go right along
Well I was young, I don't know how young I was, probably around 18 or so. I'd
heard about this praying the word so, I found the longest chapter in the bible.
In the book of Psalms, chapter 119 with 176 verses in it. You know if you're
going to do something, go all the way right? So I start praying this Psalm,
and I get about half way through, I'm on my knees, I'm being diligent. I'm gonna
bombard the gates of heaven. All of a sudden, about half way through, my bible
disappeared, my bed disappeared, my room disappeared, and I was in the throne
room of God. There I was on my face. I knew there were other people on either
side of me. And there was somebody up on the throne, I didn't dare look up.
I knew He was there. I knew that there were two beings on either side, once
again I didn't look up but I knew they were there. And I knew that these people
were on both sides of me, they were about 14. You know how you can look out
and just kind of know that they're there. None of us looked up. And all I could
say was Holy, Holy, Holy. That was my first understanding of holiness.
So, this isn't coming from somebody who's just reading a bunch of books trying
to tell you something. I know, This is what holiness is. It emits from His absolute
goodness, His absolute perfection. There is no flaw in Him and that's all you
can say, Holy, Holy, Holy.
When you see something, we don't see any of that, I'm sorry to say, here on
the Earth. "...That's the best computer on the face of the Earth, that's
the fastest, most technologically advanced piece of equipment that you can get
your hands on..." You still can't say it's holy. And nobody's gonna fall
down and worship it. Well, no one should. It's still not God and you put that
next to God, and forget about it. There is no comparison. I don't care who you
are, if you get in the presence of God, you're going to think the same thing,
holy. How can the angels sing the same song day and night forever? Because,
it never gets boring. It's new every time. And it's still the truth!
This is an excerpt from a paper I wrote way back when I had this vision of the
Throne Room and I thought it fit so well that I wanted to share it here. It
says,
The Best, the Most, the Greatest, and Perfection, there is no turning from this definition of Holy Completeness. There is no variation to perfection. Oh Lord, Yours is the greatness, the standard, the measure, the excellence; both riches and honor belong to you. Holiness is the attribute that makes God, God. Holiness is the defining agent that sets Him apart from the almost as high or some other being. All knowing, ever present, the best, the most, the greatest. These can belong to only one, and that One therefore is Holy.
When you are the best at something, that is the definition of holiness. Do you understand? When you have the most of something, that's the definition of holiness. When you are the greatest in an area, this is why He says "I'm the Most High". If He were not the most high, He would be the almost as high, or the mostly high. But He's the Most High. He's the Greatest, it's what makes Him Holy. And so when we get to know Him, this is His first attribute and you have to understand this please, because you realize that it's not you. If He's the Great One, you aren't. You may be great but you're not the Great One. You may be high, but you're not as high as He is. He's the Most High. You may be good, but you're not as good as He is, He's the most-good. Do you understand?
This is the position that we must take when we get to meet Him. And it makes
Him happy. When we sit in His presence and we go, "You know everything,
You're all knowing, I don't know anything. Let me know something." That's
the right position we have with the Holy Ghost as our friend. You can't heal
anybody, but He can Heal everybody! You want a healing ministry, then this is
the way to get it. You acknowledge Him as the Healer - able to do anything.
That's the position we have with this friend. We're nothing, He's everything!
Holiness is not an endless list of human do's and don'ts as many have preached.
Holiness is what God is. Everything He is, does or has to do with, begins and
ends in pure Holiness.
Holiness is purity in it's purest state. Holiness is absolute perfection. Absolute
freedom from corruption and incorruptible by nature.
This is why you can't get to heaven without being holy, because there's nothing incorruptible in heaven. It's holy ground! God said that to Moses, He said "take off your shoes" there disgusting. You're standing on Holy Ground. It meant more than he had dirty feet. It meant they were contaminated with the world.
You want to deal with the Holy Ghost? Guess what's going happen, you're going
have to get clean. You're going to have to stay in the blood of Jesus, cause
the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin! When you're cleansed from all sin
you become Holy! No contamination.
Do you want your life with the Holy Ghost to dwindle and dwindle and dwindle?
Start having contamination come in. But if you desire a relationship with the
Holy Ghost keep yourself pure. It's one of the first things He'll say to you.
We know that. We'll get into that.
Part of the work of the Holy Ghost is to come and tell you what's wrong. Clean
this up, do this, do that. He's the life coach! He will show you how to live.
Why? Because, He knows how to live life more abundantly! Certainly more abundantly
than you do. Wherever you're missing it. If you're not living to the greatest
and the best that you can be, He knows how to put you up there. Glory to God.
Why, because that's where He is, He's up there. We're gonna know the Holy Ghost.
And I'm excited about it.
Holiness is marked by being or possessing the greatest, the best and the most of something or everything without limitation or equal.
And when we get into the gifts of the Spirit, this is very important. Why are they His gifts? Because, He's the possessor of everything. He knows everything. And when He gives us a word of wisdom or a word of knowledge, it's just a word of His knowledge. He knows it all. He has it all. He's simply allowing you to see into it to a small degree. I'll try to finish up here.
The possessor of the most of something or everything without limitation or equal. Holiness in short is God Himself. Nothing can be half Holy, it either is or it isn't.
Once again, the glass of water, if it's just water and then you go and you
put some grape juice in it, it is no longer a just glass of water. If you have
a glass of God's goodness, and you put a little bit of "badness" in
there, you no longer have a Holy glass of God's goodness. God has none of that.
That would be spewed out of his mouth. Why does He say, "I'd rather you'd
be cold or hot and if you're lukewarm I'm going to vomit you out of my mouth?"
Why, because He's Holy!
Why is there a division between heaven and hell? Because God made it and He's
Holy! You're either in hell or you're in heaven, end of story, that's Holy Judgement!
It's one of the things the Holy Ghost does. Get it? He's Holy! He's Holy on
both sides! There's no corruption in heaven!
Nothing can be half Holy, it is or it isn't. Only One can be the most Holy.
Only One can be the greatest. These words confine all others to an unavoidable
lower rank - not quite as holy or mostly great. Whatever the attribute, whatever
the condition, if it is of God, it is incorruptible, complete and perfect. It
is Holy.
The life of God is Holy for in Him there is no death at all. The light of God
is Holy for in Him there is no darkness at all. The wealth of God is Holy for
in Him there is no poverty at all.
And we can look at our lives and examine ourselves and we can say, "Oh,
am I missing this in some way?" And we're all missing it in many different
ways. We're all not the Great One. And that's all right, we're not called to
be the Great One. But we are called to be holy as He is Holy. Does that mean
a little something more to you now? A little more than "...Oh, be holy,
for I am Holy. That means you need to do a bunch of things..." No, it doesn't
mean you need to do a bunch of things. It means you need to think this way.
Act this way. Be like He is. Be YOU holy for I am Holy.
That's a promise! Don't look at that as "...Well, that's not easy to do..."
It's a promise. He's telling you, you can live this way! You be Holy for I am
Holy. If He's all goodness, all greatness, all wealth, all light, all ability,
and He says, You be like Me. Then we're going to start to be like Him.
Do you see why this is so very important to understand who the Holy Ghost is?
The Word shows you who He is! Now we can begin to understand what He's doing
in our life when He's trying to bring us into holiness. Holiness is really,
really good. Get rid of those ridiculous ideas of what holiness used to be.
Holiness is simply purity in it's purest state, goodness in it's goodness state,
light in it's lightness state. (I know that is an abuse of the English language
but you get the point.) This is God. This is with whom we have to do. He is
Holy.
What an exciting adventure, God is beginning to reveal Himself to you. If you
could be with a friend, with Somebody as wonderful as that, or have Him as your
life coach. There is no greater life coach than the Holy Ghost! Because, He
is the most high Holy Ghost! He's the most High Life Coach! It doesn't matter
what area of life you're talking about, He's the best, He's the greatest, and
He is the Most High.
